The Claggett Center offers week-long, residential, camp programs for youth from completed 2nd grade to recently-graduated high school seniors. Whether climbing high on the ropes course, or diving deep at the pool, there’s something for everyone here at Claggett. From adventures on the Monocacy River and Sugarloaf Mountain, to swimming, games, campfires and classic skits, campers are sure to create new friendships and renew old ones year after year.

Summer Camps at Claggett are Christian formation ministries of the Episcopal Diocese of Maryland. Camp is grounded in Scripture and tradition, and encourages campers and staff to use their whole selves as ways to explore the Christian Story. Each week a chaplain participates in all camp activities, and supports the ministry of camp through prayer, participation and spiritual direction.

Thank you for your support of our Summer Camp programs! We welcome your support of our campers in need by making a donation to the camp scholarship fund.

Tuscarora offers tennis camps every summer in our beautiful facility. Our goal is to keep kids active and encourage tennis as a lifetime sport of fun and great exercise. Players will enjoy working with our Pros on a variety of tennis skills, fun games, drills and match play. All players should pack healthy snacks and water bottles for breaks. Also bring a notebook, hat/visor, towel, wristbands and sunscreen.

Quickstart (Ages 5-7) & Young Beginners (Ages 8-10)
Offered Monday through Thursday, 9am-12:30pm. We work on basic tennis skills with upbeat drills and exciting games. We help players develop motor skills needed for different strokes, allowing each child to move at their own pace and ability. We use low compression balls and size appropriate equipment to get players rallying and playing points comfortably. The camp emphasizes working with a partner, good sportsmanship and tons of fun! The camp is $250 per week (4 days).

Low Intermediates (Ages 10-14)
Offered Monday through Thursday or Friday, 12:30pm-4:00pm. This camp is geared toward higher level drills and developing skills and strategies for singles and doubles match play on a standard court. Similar goals of team building and sportsmanship are encouraged in preparation for high school tennis and tournaments. More physical conditioning is emphasized to build strength and speed needed for competitive play. This camp is $250 per week (4 days).

Focus Camp (Tournament Level and High School Players)
Offered Monday through Thursday or Friday, 12:30pm-4:00 pm. These junior players should be committed to tournament competition as this camp is a concentrated program of multiple stroke drills, game planning and addressing the mental toughness and physical fitness needed to succeed. Players will be recorded for video analysis and compared from the beginning to end of the week. Advanced match play and strategy and specialty strokes are combined with intense daily fitness training. We will also review pre-match warm-ups, stretches and focusing rituals, proper hydration and nutrition and racquet care. Training will be on hard courts as well as our Har-tru (clay) courts outside. The camp is $250 per week (4 days).
